90-day reporting for expats in Thailand

90-Day Reporting in Thailand: How to Do It Without the Stress

April 19, 20263 min read

If you live in Thailand on a long-stay visa, you are required by law to report your address to immigration every 90 days. Missing this deadline comes with a fine — and repeat offenses can cause bigger problems. The good news is that once you understand how it works, it is genuinely straightforward.

What Is 90-Day Reporting?

Any foreigner staying in Thailand for 90 consecutive days on a non-immigrant visa must notify the Department of Immigration of their current address. This is not a visa renewal — it is simply a confirmation that you are still living where you said you would be living.

Three Ways to Report

In Person You can visit your nearest immigration office and submit your TM.47 form in person. Bring your passport, a copy of your departure card (TM.6), and proof of your current address such as a rental agreement or a letter from your landlord. Arrive early — immigration offices get busy.

By Mail You can mail your TM.47 form along with copies of the required documents to your local immigration office. Send it no earlier than 15 days before your deadline and no later than 7 days before. Keep your tracking number and a copy of everything you send.

Online The Immigration Bureau has an online 90-day reporting system at imm.immigration.go.th. When it works, it is the easiest option. Note that first-time reporters are often required to report in person before the online system will accept their submissions.

Key Things to Remember

  • Your 90-day clock starts from the date you last entered Thailand or your last report — whichever is more recent

  • The fine for late reporting is 2,000 THB if you report voluntarily, and up to 5,000 THB if caught at a checkpoint

  • Keep a calendar reminder set 2 weeks before your deadline so you are never caught off guard

  • If you travel internationally before your 90 days are up, your clock resets from your re-entry date

Pro Tip

Many expats use apps or spreadsheets to track their reporting dates alongside their visa expiry dates. Keeping both in one place removes the guesswork entirely.
